The UWI Faculty of Sport and the Mona School of Business and Management collaborated to stage an online discussion on the future of sports in Jamaica, with particular emphasis on the current management structure and business opportunities of the industry.  The online event took place on October 18, 2024 from 9.00am to 3.00pm.

The objectives of the discussion were to:

1. Foster a national dialogue among academia, practitioners, administrators, corporate persons, media, and the general public on the development and implementation of a viable strategy for the future and business of sports in Jamaica
2. Distil and learn from international best practice in the areas of sport administration and management, legal frameworks and other institutional arrangements that properly underpin successful national sporting programmes and their bankability
3. Establish a more joined up and comprehensive national agenda for sports administration and management, funding, return on investment, and accountability in sports for Jamaica
