Contact: sydney@alumni.uwi.edu
Who is Charles? He tells you here: - " I am a proud Alumni Ambassador of the Vice Chancellor’s UWI STAT Ambassador Corps. I treasure my UWI experiences as being among the best of my life, having formed lifelong friendships and taken advantage of the many opportunities at the institution - from scholarships to travel to countries in the Caribbean, Latin America and Europe.
After I completed my B.A. in Linguistics, with a Spanish minor, I relocated to Colombia where I taught English at the National University of Colombia, Bogotá. Subsequent to that, I received an Erasmus Mundus scholarship to pursue an M.A. in Multiculturalism: Learning and Teaching of Spanish in Multilingual and International Contexts at the University of Deusto, Pompeu-Fabra University and the University of Barcelona, Spain, and the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. Despite my amazing European experience and opportunities, I decided to return to Jamaica and also The UWI, Mona, where I concurrently taught courses in Spanish, Academic Writing and Linguistics across two departments in the Faculty of Humanities and Education.
A few years later, I decided to relocate to Sydney, Australia, where my wife and UWI Mona classmate, Tina Whyte, is pursuing doctoral studies in Psycholinguistics at Western Sydney University. I am currently exploring possible career options in Higher Education and opportunities for doctoral studies in my areas of interest: Second Language Teaching and Learning and Educational Linguistics. I can't wait to connect with fellow UWI graduates, Jamaican and Caribbean citizens in the Great Southern Land. "
So now you have met Charles - and if you are in Sydney - we invite yiou to "connect": with him and other fellow Pelicans "down under"
