VIDEO: EXTENDING EXHIBITION SPACES. Looking at similarities and possibilities!

So you may remember that I was On the Road for a few weeks in late 2016, following-up on research, networking and gathering ideas. One great contact was Pamela Forde, Archivist at the Royal College of Physicians in London, UK, who agreed to be videotaped talking about their collection, conservation, collaboration with museum colleagues, and exhibitions within their multi-use space.
So it’s this last point that’s in focus today.
Why?

3-D ON A BUDGET FOR MUSEUMS & COMMUNITIES: Slideshow!

3-D technologies were the order of the day when the UWI Museum hosted facilitators from the University of St Andrews in Scotland who were in the Caribbean conducting workshops under a project aimed at community museums in Europe and Latin America & the Caribbean. The project is titled EULAC Museums and the University of the West Indies is one of several partners.

GETTING 2017 UNDERWAY

2017 has started with a rush and we want to make sure that you’re kept up to date. So aside from exhibitions and our on-going focus on enriching the social history of the UWI, we are collaborating on a January 27 UWI and the 1960s event with our colleagues at the Department of History & Archaeology; and we are engaging with a project to spread skills on 3-D and spherical technologies as they apply to museums.

SEASONS GREETINGS – Video greeting from the UWI Museum

This is a season of celebration and renewal.
In our last post we shared the process of tuning the steelpan which is one of the artifacts in our museum, a connection to aspects of the history and heritage of the University of the West Indies and of the region it serves, and a recent example of one of Trinidad & Tobago’s gifts to the world.
This week we share a snippet of Christmas music played on the same pan.
