Faculty of Sport
Taking Caribbean Sport to a Higher Level
Rooted. Ready, Rising. is the theme for the 75th Anniversary celebrations of The UWI. The Faculty is delighted to have launched the Trailblazers in Sports series during this diamond year. The series seeks to highlight the achievement of sporting luminaries from within the Faculty, The UWI, the region and beyond.
Our first interview was held with 2020 BSc Sport Sciences graduate from the Cave Hill campus, Akeem Rudder. Since graduating, Akeem has further certified himself with a Diploma in Special Educational Needs and Disability as well as with various certificates in Coaching. His professional title is that of Adaptive and Inclusive Trainer.
Akeem is the founder of Include U Sports Academy and recently won the Banyan Award for his contributions to sports development and being the only person in the Caribbean to own a sports academy heavily dedicated to people with disabilities.
Do meet Akeem in our interview on the Faculty's YouTube channel @uwifacultyofsport and hear how playing hockey opened doors for him. Interview link
