Working in Drama and Education for over forty years, Brian S. Heap, Senior Lecturer, Staff Tutor in Drama and Head of the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica passed away on Sunday March 24, 2024. A great friend of the UWI Museum as he was to so many others.
Brain often popped in to check out what we were doing at the Museum. Here he is pictured at our Confrontations exhibition that opened in October 2018. Importantly for our collection, Brian facilitated acquisition of the Philip Sherlock bust, which is frequently on display in the Museum and which had long been in storage at the Centre.
Among his many accomplishments in the arts, as actor, director and administrator, he was the author and driving force behind a spectacular son et lumiere performance at the UWI Chapel some years ago. Brian’s talent, energy and supportive presence will long be remembered. The UWI Museum offers its condolences to his family, the UWI Phillip Sherlock and Theatre fraternity.
