Museum Rental for Temporary Exhibitions

Expression through the visual arts (painting, sculpture and mixed media to name a few) has been one of the key cultural signifiers of the diversity of Caribbean cultures. Since its inception, the University has been a patron of the visual and performing arts and through its faculties of Culture, Creative and Festival Arts continues to support the evolution of artistic practices in the region.

Within this context, The UWI Museum invites expressions of interest from young, emerging and professional artists to rent the museum space to mount temporary exhibitions. Housed in the Regional Headquarters of the University of the West Indies, and across from the Mona Campus, the UWI Museum is approximately 750 sq. feet.

In a secure environment with access to secure parking, artists will have access to 500 square feet of exhibition space to install an exhibit. Proposed exhibitions can be in place for a minimum of one (1) month to a maximum of 3 months. We expect artists to host an ‘artist talk’ as a component of their programming. The fees include security, assistance with installation, electricity and advertising on museum social media and campus messaging. The fees are as follows:

Rental fees:

1 month: $45,000

2 months: $70,000

3 months: $105,000

Proposed exhibitions will be incorporated into the museum schedule for the academic year. We are accepting submissions on a rolling basis. Please fill out the form linked here. The team will facilitate tours for interested parties. For queries and questions please email the Curator, Shani Roper, PhD at uwi.museum@uwimona.edu.jm or call us at 876-977-6065.
