Dr Lori-Ann Fisher is a consultant nephrologist and intensivist and is currently a Lecturer at the Epidemiology Research Unit, Caribbean Institute for Health Research. Her research interests include sickle cell nephropathy and lupus nephritis in the Caribbean. She has published work on the epidemiology of chronic kidney disease in Jamaica, and acute kidney injury in sickle cell anaemia. She is the current Chair of the International Society of Nephrologists (ISN) North America and Caribbean Regional board and has lectured locally and internationally on sickle nephropathy and lupus nephritis.

She completed undergraduate training at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Faculty of Medical Sciences, in 2007 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) with honours. After completing residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at Medstar Good Samaritan Hospital, she pursued a clinical fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore in Nephrology and a critical care fellowship at Montefiore, Medical Centre in New York. She returned to Jamaica subsequent to training as a consultant nephrologist and intensivist at the University Hospital of the West Indies. She joined the Epidemiology Research Unit of the Caribbean for Health Research in January 2025. She is currently the Chair of the North America and Caribbean (2025-2027) board of the International society of nephrologists (ISN) and is a member of the ISN council. Her future work will explore genetic, social and environmental risk factors for progression of chronic kidney disease, with focus on lupus nephritis and sickle cell nephropathy.
