Michelle Doyle-Lowe

Michelle Doyle-Lowe was named Acting Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Barbados, effective June 2, 2017. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst and has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Economics from The University of the West Indies and an M.Phil. in International Finance from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. She is a longstanding member of the Barbados Economic Society.

H.E. Dr. June Soomer

St. Lucian, Ambassador Dr. June Soomer is the new Chairman of the Open Campus Council. A UWI alumna, she received her Ph.D. in History from the UWI in 1994. She was the first female to graduate with a doctorate in History from the UWI, Cave Hill. Her thesis entitled “An Assessment of the Factors Affecting the Structure and Functioning of The British West Indies Federal Civil Service, 1947-1962”, highlighted her passion for regional integration, one that she has maintained throughout her career. She currently serves as the Secretary General to the Association of Caribbean States.

The Honourable Justice Pearletta Lanns

The opening of the new second high court at the Sir Lee Llewellyn Moore Judicial Complex in Basseterre, St. Kitts, has seen the appointment of a second judge to serve the St. Kitts Circuit – Her Ladyship, the Honourable Justice Pearletta Lanns, a Nevisian. In 1985, Justice Lanns, on completion of her library degree, attended the UWI Open Campus in St. Kitts and Nevis and joined the Challenge Programme, which had offered a first year Law LLB of the degree programme.

Professor Kevin Fenton

Professor Kevin Fenton is the Director of Health and Wellbeing at Public Health England. Prior to that he was Director of the United States National Centre for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB Prevention. He spent his childhood in Jamaica. His father was Head of the science department at Excelsior High School and his mother was a nurse at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI). He pursued a Major in Computer Science at UWI and then graduates with an MD from the UWI Faculty of Medical Sciences, where he was elected Class President for 1985-86,

Dr. Sharon Marshall

UWI alumna Dr. Sharon Marshall is an award-winning journalist and public relations professional. She holds a Masters in English and a PhD in History from the UWI. She has served in senior management positions as Director of News and Current Affairs with the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation and as Manager, Programme Operations with the Caribbean Broadcasting Union. The highlight of her broadcasting career remains an exclusive television interview with Fidel Castro.
