The 2025 Teach In
The University of the West Indies is advancing to Phase 2 of the student-driven One UWI Responsible Futures Programme (OURFP)—a strategic, whole-institution approach to integrating sustainability and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the academic curriculum across our five campuses. It is beginning with the 2025 Teach In.
Professors Canute Thompson (Pro-Vice Chancellor, OBUS) and Aldrie Henry-Lee (Pro-Vice Chancellor, GRS) support the 2025 Teach In designed to equip UWI educators—lecturers and all those involved in curriculum development—with practical tools for embedding sustainability into their respective disciplines.
All UWI educators are invited to
- Register (or pledge) to participate in at least one of the four weeks of the 2025 Teach-In.
- Access the recordings and online resources to familiarise themselves with the integration strategies.
- Engage their students by seeking input and co-creation opportunities—many students are eager to contribute to shaping sustainability content in their fields of study.

It contains information for all UWI educators (lecturers and all those involved in designing, developing and delivering content) and will equip you with tangible examples of how to integrate sustainability and an SDG focus into the academic curriculum across the 5 UWI campuses in a whole institution approach.
It is a 30-minute presentation followed by a short Q&A and will assist you to actively participate in the 2025 Teach In beginning on March 1, 2025.
Importantly, the aim is not to change your curriculum but rather to integrate sustainability and the SDGs into what you are already teaching.

All UWI Educators are invited to participate in at least ONE of the four weeks of the Teach In during the month of March.
You may participate in as many of the four weeks as you wish.
