About the ISDJ
Why ISDJ?
The ISDJ is The UWI's International Business School dedicated exclusively to supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals - A Global School for the SDGs rooted in the Caribbean.
The ISDJ combines The UWI's two decades of experience and excellence in online education with its steadfast commitment to the SDGs and its global recognition as a leading producer of knowledge on SIDS, making it a pioneering institution in this field.
ISDJ's online courses offer flexible learning options for one-year Master's level programmes, micro-credentials, workforce development, executive education and more
“This is the largest and most transformative global project our University has ever undertaken. The idea of establishing a global online graduate school, offering one-year taught Masters programmes, dedicated exclusively to regional and international teaching and learning in respect of the 17 UN SDGs is at once timely and innovative. We are now the only university with such a global enterprise.”

Sustainable Development Goals
The ISDJ incorporates the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals into its curriculum and research initiatives. This allows students to gain a deeper understanding of the principles and concepts of sustainable development, to apply learnings to real-world situations and advance innovative development solutions.
Accreditation
The ISDJ enjoys institutional accreditation, from the Barbados Accreditation Council (BAC), as a part of The UWI Global Campus. As institutional accreditation does not cross geographical boundaries, and as a multi-location entity the Global Campus applied for and was granted mutual recognition by either the external quality assurance agency or relevant ministry, where no agency exists, including from the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago and University Council of Jamaica.
Mutual recognition means that the agency or ministry has agreed to accept the institutional accreditation decision of another agency, in this case of the Barbados Accreditation Council, and to recognize the institution as one that meets external quality standards. As part of the requirements for the maintenance of institutional accreditation the Campus, inclusive of the ISDJ, must annually submit reports to the Barbados Accreditation Council and entities granting it mutual recognition showing how it has sustained and improved on the quality of its provisions over the period under review.
The following accreditation agencies have granted the Campus, and by extension, the ISDJ, mutual recognition of the accreditation decision by the BAC;
- Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago
- Antigua and Barbuda National Accreditation Board
- Grenada National Accreditation Board
- Higher Education Licensing Board, Anguilla
- National Accreditation and Equivalency Council of The Bahamas
- National Accreditation Board of St. Vincent and the Grenadines
- National Accrediting Board, Dominica
- St. Christopher and Nevis Accreditation Board
- Technical and Vocational Education and Training and Accreditation Unit, St. Lucia
- University Council of Jamaica
Where no external quality assurance agency exists, the relevant Ministries of Education in the following countries have also recognised the institutional accreditation granted by the BAC:
- Belize
- British Virgin Islands
- Cayman Islands
- Montserrat
- Turks and Caicos Islands
Partnerships for the SDGs
Partnerships that bring together expertise and resources drive meaningful progress towards sustainable development.
The ISDJ actively engages in strategic collaborations with international organizations, governments, NGOs, and industry stakeholders.
The endorsement of the UN Secretary General, as well as ISDJ’s commitment to partnering with leading authorities, like Jeffrey Sachs, a UN Sustainable Development Network expert, emphasize the credibility and dedication of ISDJ when it comes to providing academic content aligned with the UN SDGs.
