The Low Energy Greenhouse Gas Emissions (LGGE): Promoting Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in Buildings in Jamaica project is a pioneering venture to research, assess and construct an advanced prototype of a net zero/energy-plus building.
Research conducted at the building will focus on renewable energy and practical, working solutions will be developed with the aim of transforming the use of energy in building policies and practices in Jamaica and across tropical and sub-tropical countries. The building is also designed to encourage the implementation of appropriate regulatory, educational and technical tools that will mainstream lessons and transform opportunities for promoting energy efficiency and increased use of renewable energy sources across these regions.
