Centre for Environmental Management
The CENTRE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT (CEM) seeks to build capacity towards more sustainable management of environmental resources across the Caribbean region. The Centre was initially established in September 1998 as the Environmental Management Unit and was supported by an endowed Chair from the Grace Kennedy Foundation.
The Centre provides training programmes in Environmental Management towards a Masters and post graduate degrees at the Mona Campus. This training positions the UWI to fulfil the need to expand capacity building to support more sustainable environmental management in the Caribbean region. These programmes promote effective management of environmental resources through research, graduate and postgraduate training, policy support, public education, dissemination of Information, Consultancy Services and Community Outreach at the national and regional levels.
