Six months in...

Dear Colleagues,
As you know, the roadmap for The UWI’s Digital Transformation Programme is set on a path that includes four phases which started last September and is expected to run until August 2023. At present, we’re just over six months into the Discovery Phase of the programme. Led by the Domain Sponsors, work is underway through various data scans and system audits, identifying, analysing and gaining a better understanding of the University’s business operations with the aim of harmonisation.
I am satisfied to report that we have almost completed the first three activities within the Discovery Phase. These include the identification of the various site locations, key projects, and terminology used across the UWI system. Very soon, we begin a new set of activities which involves the identification of the University’s policies, processes, and procedures. Although much of the work at this phase may be ‘behind the scenes’, this truly is an exciting season of change for The UWI towards improving the customer experience of our institution.
Over the coming weeks, look out for video updates in a new series called Digital Dialogues. In this first video, I share an overview of the programme, recapping some of the key elements and emphasizing the critical role that we all share in this process and the overall success of our digital transformation programme. Stay tuned for more of these conversations with Domain Sponsors and other key stakeholders as the series unfolds. I also invite you to visit the dedicated website for the Digital Transformation Programme: www.uwi.edu/digital-transformation.
Here you will find all the details about the programme including each of the mission critical areas of operation, the phases and timelines, the core team members, answers to frequently asked questions and other useful resources.
Sincerely,
Dr. Maurice D. Smith
