About the One-UWI Postgraduate Student Conference

Welcome to The One-UWI Postgraduate Student Conference, a dynamic and inclusive platform for emerging leaders. Taking place online on November 15-17, 2023, this conference is designed to empower and amplify the voices of future leaders in the Caribbean region. Hosted by the School for Graduate Studies and Research, The University of the West Indies (The UWI), the conference celebrates the remarkable work of over 9,000 graduate students enrolled in more than 700 programmes across our five campuses. As the top-ranked university in the Caribbean and among the top 1.5 percent globally, The UWI recognises the pivotal role that postgraduate students play in advancing our societies.

Under the theme "Preparing for the New Global Era: Voices of Future Leaders," the conference offers a platform for graduate students to share their research, ideas, and insights on a wide range of topics. From climate change and sustainability to technology advancements, from political stability to cultural shifts in a globalised world, this conference covers diverse subjects relevant to the Caribbean and its role on the global stage.

Through engaging presentations, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, participants will have the opportunity to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and network with peers and professionals from various disciplines. This conference is not only an avenue for showcasing research but also a catalyst for personal growth, enhancing research and presentation skills, and cultivating leadership qualities.

We invite all graduate students, academic staff, members of the public and private sectors, non-governmental organisations, international agencies, and the diaspora to join us in this enriching experience.
