About the 2024 One-UWI Postgraduate Student Conference

We are proud to announce the second iteration of the Postgraduate Student Conference (UWIPGCon24), hosted by The University of the West Indies, the leading institution in the Caribbean. This conference aligns with the global agenda outlined by the United Nations’ Summit of the Future: Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow.

Under the theme, Collaborative Horizons: Interdisciplinary Visions for Caribbean and Global Progress, we emphasise the need for cross-disciplinary and regional collaboration to tackle today's pressing challenges. We aim to contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future, as advocated by the United Nations.

The University of the West Indies, renowned for excellence and innovation, serves over 9,000 postgraduate students across five campuses, offering more than 700 programmes. Our institution stands as a beacon of scholarly achievement and societal advancement, driven by the dedication and groundbreaking research of our postgraduate students and faculty. Despite the wealth of knowledge generated by our postgraduate students, the full impact of their findings often remains untapped. The School for Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR) recognises the need to provide a platform for disseminating their work and celebrating their achievements.

Therefore, on November 20-22, 2024, the School for Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR) will host the Second One-UWI Postgraduate Student Conference, a three-day online gathering that aims to amplify the voices of future leaders. In line with the United Nations' call for “…a Summit of the Future to forge a new global consensus on readying ourselves for a future that is rife with risks but also opportunities," our theme “Collaborative Horizons: Interdisciplinary Visions for Caribbean and Global Progress” underscores the importance of engaging NOW the next generation of leaders in envisioning and shaping a more resilient and equitable future for the Caribbean and beyond.

Join us on this journey of collaboration, innovation, and shared vision toward a brighter tomorrow. Together, let us chart new horizons and forge pathways to sustainable development and global progress.
