The University Data Protection Office

The University Data Protection Office plays a vital role in upholding the principles outlined in The UWI Data Protection Policy. It oversees key activities related to data protection across the University, supports data protection projects, and provides support services to the University Data Protection Officer (UDPO).

The Office’s main responsibilities include:

  1. Developing detailed data protection compliance roadmaps and frameworks
  2. Ensuring staff and other University representatives comply with the policy through monitoring and guidance
  3. Serving as the central hub for all data protection communication across the University
  4. Leading initiatives to foster a culture of data protection awareness and accountability
  5. Managing and responding to personal data breaches effectively when they occur
  6. Monitoring global data protection (or Privacy) legislation that might affect The UWI
