The UWI Earns a Place Among the Top 3.6% of Universities Worldwide

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) has strengthened its global reputation by earning a place among the top 3.6% of universities worldwide in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026.

Selected from more than 33,000 universities globally, The UWI is one of just 2,191 institutions from 115 countries and territories included in the rankings. It also remains the only English-speaking Caribbean university to be featured.

The rankings assess universities across teaching, research, industry engagement, and international outlook. The UWI's improved position reflects its continued investment in research excellence, innovation, and global partnerships.
