on September 5th, Ivan was a category 1 hurricane located about 930 miles east southeast of Barbados to late on the 7th, regular, relevant and reliable information on Ivan was disseminated. Between the late morning and early afternoon Sunday September 5th Ivan underwent rapid intensification to become the fourth major hurricane of the season. This, in combination with the fact Ivan was still moving rapidly westward represented a significant forecasting challenge.

Storm Lili impacted the islands of Barbados, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Saint Lucia between Sunday September 22 until the early morning of Tuesday September 24, 2002 when the all clear was issued.

Eye of the storm passed just north of Barbados, the highest measured winds was only 68 kt at the Airport on the south side of Barbados, far from Allen’s strongest winds, Local officials estimate damage at US $ 6 million, primarily to private housing, agriculture and the fishing industry .
