Teletsunami from Libson, Portugal, earthquake 1755 November 1 Waves of amplitude 7 m were observed at Saba, 3.6 m at Antigua and Dominica, 4.5 at St. Martin, leaving a sloop anchored in 4.6m of water laying broadside on the dry bottom, 1.5-1.8 m at Barbados, where the wave had a period of 5 minutes and the water was black as ink. This could be a local landslide tsunami or seiche triggered by the Libson wave. At Martinique at some places the water was reported to have withdrawn for 1.6km and at other placed it flowed into the upper level rooms of the houses. The lowlands on most of the other French Islands were inundated.Barbados
Tropical Storm Tomas 2010 Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 140 miles...220 km from the center. During the past hour...a wind gust to 63 mph...100 Km/hr was reported on Barbados. Information from the Barbados Meteorological service indicates that damage to homes and downed Power lines have been reported on the island. Initial reports indicate that several homes have had their roofs blown away and several cars had been crushed by fallen trees and utility poles.Barbados
