As at February 2025, Anguilla does not have a comprehensive data protection law. However, the Statistics Act (http://statistics.gov.ai/StatisticsDept/Confidentiality4_6) within the Revised Statutes of Anguilla includes provisions to maintain the confidentiality of data collected for statistical purposes. Despite the absence of specific data protection legislation, organisations in Anguilla that process personal data of individuals residing in jurisdictions with established data protection laws, such as the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), may still be subject to those regulations. For instance, Anguilla-based International Business Companies (IBCs) handling personal data of EU residents must comply with GDPR (https://gdpr-info.eu/) requirements to avoid significant fines and reputational damage.
To ensure compliance with international data protection standards, Anguillan organisations are encouraged to adopt robust data protection and privacy practices. This includes implementing sound data management practices, conducting regular assessments, and establishing safeguards to protect personal information.
