Secured UNDP grant to support SDG Youth Advocacy Campaign
The SDG Youth Advocacy Campaign was developed by The University of the West Indies in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) – Jamaica Country Office, with a view to building awareness of the SDGs among Caribbean youth, emphasizing the importance of localizing the global goals and strengthening the participation of young people from the region in the implementation of the 2030 development agenda in the Caribbean.
The Campaign was officially launched in April 2017 and culminated with the Caribbean Action 2030 Regional Conference on the SDGs held in Kingston, Jamaica, June 28-30, 2017.
Key components of the Campaign were:
- A webinar launch
- Production of a Short Film Series “Youth Action on the SDGs in the Caribbean”
- A Digital Photography Competition- Through the Lens of Caribbean Youth
- Public Education
- A Youth Forum at Caribbean Action 2030 Regional Conference on the SDGs
It is anticipated that the many young people with whom the Campaign interfaced will continue to build on this momentum by expanding their networks of youth advocates committed to building awareness and implementing projects that will contribute to the achievement of the SDGs in the Caribbean by 2030.
