Bio

Professor Bailey is a Senior Fellow at the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus. He joined the Institute in 2006 after serving as Project Coordinator for the South-South Crime Prevention Initiative collaboration between the University of the West Indies and the University of Cape Town.

Professor Bailey situates his work within the field of sociology with a special interest in crime, and poverty related research. He has published by way of academic journals, books, and book chapters in these two areas, as well as conducted research on behalf of Governments and international organisations.

He is coordinator of the SALISES seminar series. His teaching interests include Qualitative research methods and Deviance. He has supervised 3 students to the successful completion of PhDs and one student to successful completion of an MPhil degree.
