Nadine Newman is the Head Librarian of the Documentation Centre at the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies. Her research interests span both in the field of librarianship and human resource management. She has published in both regional and international journals such as Caribbean Journal of Public Sector Management, Journal of Workplace Learning and Library Review.
She has taught courses in information literacy, research skills and bibliographic citation classes over the years and collaborated with other Departments within the Faculty of Social Science to integrate progressive library instruction within their courses. She has undertaken several consultancies with local, regional and international organisations such as UNICEF, FAO, IICA and PAHO.
Her professional experience extends beyond the University where she is actively involved as a member of the Library and Information Association of Jamaica (LIAJA) and the American Library Association (ALA). She cites her main priority as finding new and creative ways to increase information literacy among students - and faculty - at SALISES, in an increasingly online world.
