Dr. Kenisha Nelson is a lecturer in the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies at the University of Technology, Jamaica. She also heads the Social Science Division in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences within the Faculty. She is a Commonwealth Scholar who holds a Ph.D. in Psychology with an emphasis in Occupational Health Psychology from Cardiff University, Wales. Her main research areas are two-fold. Dr. Nelson is interested in expanding her work in workplace stress, which began with her thesis on occupational stress and well-being in the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). Primarily, her research is focused on occupations that are at an increased risk for stress and stress-related consequences. Her other research interest is in the area of gender-based violence. She is an affiliate member of the None-in-Three Research Centre, which consists of an international team of persons studying various forms of gender-based violence in several countries, including Jamaica, where the research has specifically focused on child sexual abuse. Dr. Nelson has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and technical reports.
