Title: Squatting on the Hellshire Beach: Effects on the Environment and Significance in Landscape History
Abstract
Discusses the development of squatting on Hellshire Beach, the impact on the environment, changes in the landscape, and the significance in the landscape history. As part of the research, 10 shop proprietors located on Hellshire Beach were interviewed in 2013, in order to determine the length of residency, and changes they have observed since they moved there. Since the time of the interviews, the area has become more developed and the beach has eroded significantly; however anecdotal evidence suggests that the perspective of interviewees remains fundamentally unchanged.
