Hurricane Irma reached its maximum intensity of 155t knots when it was located at 70 n miles east-southeast of Barbuda. It hit Barbuda as a category 5 hurricane. Barbuda received more devastation than Antigua, 95 % of buildings on Barbuda were damaged, leaving the island “barely habitable” one infant died in Barbuda. all communication systems damaged in Barbuda

Damage: Island Wide loss of electrical power for 2 days. High Winds felled numerous trees and signs, one home damaged. Damage to livestock and crops within the agriculture sector. Fishing sector was also affected. 12 persons had to be rescued. Brought 15ft of waves , up to 7 inches of rain and hurricane force winds. 350 persons sought relief in public shelters

Damage: Severe Rainfall and storm surge led to flooding, this caused significant damage to the agricultural sector. Roads were also damaged, about 9 homes were damaged/destroyed. 30 people had to be rescued from flooded homes.
