About Dr. Carmen Solana

Dr Carmen Solana is a Reader in Volcanology and Risk communications at the University of Portsmouth (UK), where she is the dierector of the MSc in Crisis and Disaster Management. She is a member of IAVCEI, the Canarian Volcanological Institute (INVOLCAN), the UN Alliance for Disaster research (UKADR), VMSG, a fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and an affiliate of the UCL Hazard Centre at University College London. Her research interests include Disaster risk reduction, communication during emergencies and monitoring and forecasting natural hazards, specifically lava flows. Originally from the Canary Islands, she is specially focuses on Islands.
