About Dr. Anna Hicks
I am an internationally-recognised interdisciplinary multi-hazard scientist with 10 years’ experience in disaster risk reduction research. I specialise in the integration of geoscience, social science and science media communication. My work has changed behaviour both in communities, by risk reducing actions leading to saved lives and livelihoods, and institutions, by influencing research programmes to include community-based research. I lead projects on arts/science research networking, citizen science, risk communication, and the public understanding of science. I win funding to support my long-term international collaborations and contribute to key international risk reduction and development initiatives. I also provide high-quality, impartial advice on multi-hazards and risk for UK and overseas government institutions.
