A new Caribbean Resilience and Recovery Knowledge Network (CRRKN) has been set up with funding from the UK Global Challenges Research Fund with the aim of transforming post-disaster recovery in the region through forward planning and by learning from past experience. The 2-year project was started in September 2019, and is being implemented by an international team through the Disaster Risk Reduction Centre at the University of the West Indies, Mona.

The network supports regional efforts to address the challenge of ad hoc and short-term aid driven research by scientists, practitioners and policymakers. This will be done by bringing together diverse stakeholders (from the Caribbean and the UK) to partake in a series of activities including (i) forensic workshops, (ii) development and testing of scenarios in several Caribbean countries, and (iii) the implementation of webinars. The network will invest in collaborative spaces, innovation and learning processes, promoting stakeholder consultation; it will nurture respect and thought leadership and seek to broker new knowledge in addressing recovery challenges.

You have been identified as a key stakeholder who could provide valuable contributions to the network. If you are interested and available to participate please be so kind as to provide:

  • A blurb or short biography of yourself, including photo if possible
  • Contact information for yourself, including any social media handles
  • Information on your affiliated organization (purpose, contact, etc.)
  • Information on your areas of special interest for disaster recovery and resilience, including a list of any publications or reports, as well as link to access if possible.

If you are unavailable or not interested, please let us know. However, we do hope that you will be able to participate in this network that will help build momentum towards a transformational agenda in post-disaster recovery in the Caribbean.

If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me at simone.m.lee@gmail.com.

Regards,

Simone Lee
