The University policy for the Management of Visual Art Collections was approved by University F&GPC in 2021. It guides the collection management practices of the institution’s works of art and makes recommendation for their documentation and maintenance. The responsible party for implementing this policy is the UWI Museum, their Curator and other collections managers partner to care the collection. The University does a virtual survey every two years to compile information on the institution’s art collection. Please complete this survey when this link is sent to you.  Every two years, the UWI Museum team in partnership with the University Office of Planning issues a virtual university survey to create an inventory of works of art and their locations. 
What is Artwork/ Works of Art?
It speaks to but is not limited to any visual art including paintings drawings, prints, photographs, watercolours, glass art, sculptures (made from metal, wood, etc.), ceramics, murals, mixed media, fibre or textile art, jewellery, and site specific installations which have been purchased, donated or bequeathed to the University or affiliated departments, institutions etc. 
What is the Art Policy?
This policy addresses all the works of art purchased with university funds, gifted, donated or bequeathed to the Institution. It was approved in June 2021 and guides the approach to collecting, maintaining and caring for the art collection owned by the University. Personal Collection Guidelines
Under the policy for the Management of University Art Collections, staff members are required to declare their personal collections using the form provided. They are also responsible for the care and maintenance of their art collection in the workspace. The art policy requires personnel to declare pieces kept in their offices or on the UWI plant at least every three years (section 6.1 - 6.2). Works1 of art left on the University compound for 5 years or more after a member of staff has left the institution, will be considered abandoned.
