The largest fundraiser for The UWI in Canada, the annual UWI Toronto Gala has raised more than 500 scholarships to date, at an estimated worth of CAD$2 million. The annual event, which has earned its place as a fixture on the Toronto social calendar honours distinguished Canadian/Caribbean individuals and organisations for contributions that positively impacted the Caribbean region. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the much-anticipated event was postponed from April to June, when it was eventually held in a virtual format.
