Dr Donovan Campbell
Dr Donovan Campbell is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Geography and Geology at The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. He is passionate about environmental change and human development issues in the Caribbean and his research interests are focused on climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction in the Caribbean.
Dr Campbell is currently one of 25 global experts selected by the United Nations to lead the World Oceans Assessment (2021-2025). He is also a Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report and served in a similar capacity for the Special Report on Climate Change and Land, published in 2019.
Dr Campbell is actively involved in several large-scale collaborative and transdisciplinary research initiatives focused on climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development across the Caribbean. He works with interdisciplinary research teams to explore multi-scale socio-economic, governance and environmental conditions that shape vulnerability and capacity to adapt to climate change.
Dr. Campbell provides research and consultation services for numerous high-profile organisations regionally and internationally—among these include the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the World Bank, The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Deloitte.
