Reginald Burke

Reginald I. Burke, is a natural resources manager with over 25 years experience. His training is in ecology, microbiology and environmental resources management and he has worked in the areas of food microbiology, water quality testing, climate change, marine litter management, water supply and sanitation assessment, youth development, sustainable consumption and production, sustainable and rural tourism, flood management and management planning for forestry reserves. Mr. Burke also has extensive experience working with the youth sector specifically in the areas of climate change and sustainable development education, project management and NGO management. Throughout his career he has worked mostly with Caribbean Civil Society organisations, inclusive of the Caribbean Regional Environmental Programme, Caribbean Network for Integrated Rural Development, Caribbean Conservation Association and the Caribbean Youth Environment Network where he currently serves as Executive Coordinator.  He has also worked with the Caribbean Environmental Health Institute in St. Lucia and the Open Campus of the University of the West Indies.  His delivery of non-formal education programming to the youth sector throughout the Caribbean is renowned and he has been recognised for his work by the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean and awarded Partner of the year in 2007.  Mr. Burke has also served for four years as the Latin American and Caribbean CSO representative of the UNEP Civil Society Panel and is currently the Latin American representative on the Youth and Education Alliance initiative which is coordinated by the Chief of the Education and Youth section and the Chair of the UN Higher Education Sustainability Initiative at UN Environment in Nairobi, Kenya.
