David Yawson

David Yawson is a Professor of Agrifood Systems and Environmental Resilience. He is the current Director of the Centre for Resource Management and Environmental Studies (CERMES) at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. Professor Yawson is an interdisciplinary scientist with academic backgrounds in Agricultural, Geo-Information, and Environmental Science. He is the lead academic for the Land Management and Environmental Resilience specialization at CERMES where he teaches specialization courses that explore adaptive responses to the impacts of the complex and highly dynamic interactions between land use/cover, land surface processes and climate change on ecological systems and socio-economic sectors. His research interests revolve around sustainable and resilient management of natural resources and the environment (mainly land resources, nutrients, water and food) in a changing climate. Professor Yawson has professional and academic experiences in Africa, Europe and the Caribbean, and provides consultancy services to UN agencies, governments, and NGOs.
