Hurricane Allen 1980 This system affected the island on the 3-4th August, 1980, in St.Lucia maximum winds reached 125mph in the south and 105mph in the north of the island, In both cases recording instruments were either blown away or damaged before the passage of the most intesne weather. The storm was described as “dry” with rainfall ranging from 2.69 inches to 8.76 inches. Some stations recorded as little as 3 inches .Saint Lucia
Hurricane Behulah 1967 Heavy rains, associated with an upper trough, began as early as September 4 on Martinique accompanied the torrential downpours from the stormitself. An 18-hr. rainfall of 11.85 in. was recordedon Martinique on September 8. Flooding on the two islands tremendously damaged houses, bridges, roads, and crops.The St. Lucia banana crop was 30 percent destroyed. Hurricane Abby 1960 The tropical cyclone which became Hurricane Abby developed in an easterly wave in the vicinity of the Lesser antilles July 9-10. St.Lucia experienced Maximum winds of 48 kts and peak gusts of 55 kts. Property Damage was estimated at 435,000 USD Hurricane Abby also caused landslides at Fond St Jacques.
