Hurricane Ivan 2004 Ivan became a hurricane on the 5th September centered about 1000 n mi east of Tobago in the southern Windward Islands. In preparation for the storm over 560 people from low lying coastal areas were evacuated to seven shelters in Tobago. The island of Tobago received 16.20 inches of rainfall as a result of the storm. In Tobago at least 1 home collapsed and fell into the ocean; at least 45 homes lost their roofs; numerous trees and utility poles were blown down leading to power outages in parts of the island; 20 villages suffered various forms of damage.Trinidad and Tobago
Flooding Event 1993 Five persons died as between 60 and 100 mm of rain pelted the northwest and west of Trinidad shortly after noon on the 5th October 1993. The rains fell for two hours swelling rivers, causing landslides, blocking roads and felling trees." This brief torrential rain triggered heavy flooding and mudslides and affected a region of 1,170km ². Tropical Storm Bret 1993 ON the 7th August 1993 Tropical Storm Bret passed Trinidad and Tobago with winds of 44 km/hr and dumping 111mm of Rainfall. Rains and winds caused Power cuts. In the Southern end of Tobago and Low-Lying Central Trinidad some houses suffered minor damage due to flooding and falling of trees. There were no reports of serious casualties or damage on the two-island nation, but Army troops were in downtown Port-Of-Spain apparently to prevent looting. Bret knocked out power to about 35,000 residents in the northeast villages of Balandra and Toco.Trinidad and Tobago
