BFUWI hosts Caribbean Rhythms Musical Evening at Inner Temple on 11 April 2017

The British Foundation for the University of the West Indies (BFUWI) will be holding a fundraising musical event at Inner Temple to raise funds for our educational outreach work in the UK and for bursaries for students at our campuses in the Caribbean. The event continues the celebration of 50 years of independence achieved by Guyana and Barbados in 2016 and recognises that this year Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago will celebrate 55 years of self-rule.

The Principal of Cave Hill Campus, Professor Eudine Barriteau will be in attendance and guests will be entertained by performers from Tomorrow’s Warriors, a group of young musicians based at Southbank Centre, who perform under the direction of Gary Crosbie OBE, managed by Janine Irons OBE. After the performance there will be a reception and music by renowned steel pan player Kyron Akal.

The Inner Temple (www.innertemple.org.uk) is one of four Inns of Court to which all barristers must belong. (BFUWI trustee Susan Belgrave is a member of Inner Temple.) Inner Temple has kindly sponsored two legal workshops organised by BFUWI for Caribbean and other disadvantaged students where a number of lawyers, predominantly from the Caribbean community have spoken to students about different career paths in law. Around 250 students have benefited from these workshops and the opportunity to interact with lawyers practising in a multitude of specialisations.
