UWI STAT Open Campus Footprints Campaign

The UWI Students Today Alumni Tomorrow (STAT) Open Campus Corps’ Footprints Day activity in Dominica was successful and an Open Campus student received much needed financial assistance to help as he pursues his undergraduate degree in Secondary Education (Mathematics) in the Faculty of Humanities and Education.

The UWI STAT Open Campus Corps held a week of activities in November 2020 and the Executive of the UWI STAT Open Campus hosted Footprints Day on Friday, November 27, 2020, with Ms. Annissa Moulon, who holds the position of Secretary on the Executive, leading this particular activity.  A physical donation box was placed at the Open Campus Office Site in Dominica and students and alumni contributed EC$208.65 over a two week period. Under the direction of the Director of Alumni Relations and the Open Campus Alumni Officer, Mrs. Sandra Griffith Carrington, with the assistance of the Dominica UWI Alumni Association Chapter Guild Executive and the staff of the Campus Site, a deserving student was selected as the recipient of the funds.

The “Handover” ceremony took place with the requisite Covid-19 protocols in place and served as a record of the disbursement of funds on behalf of the UWI STAT to the recipient. It also served to underscore the aim of the Corps’ Footprints Day – which is to start the tradition of “giving back” among the student body - to assist their fellow students. It also serves to encourage students, once they become graduates, to always give a helping hand to students so that the Caribbean can ensure the continuous development of leaders across all sectors, for the benefit of our Region.

Special thanks to Ambassador Annissa Moulon, the Head of the Open Campus Dominica, Dr. Kimone Joseph, and the Guild President of Dominica, Ms. Kerahia Jno Baptiste, as well as Mrs. Sandra Griffith Carrington, who does an excellent job of guiding the Open Campus UWI STAT Corps across the Region.
