Professor Derek Chadee

Pro Vice-Chancellor for The UWI Board of Undergraduate Studies

As Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Derek Chadee oversees the Office of the Board for Undergraduate Studies (OBUS) which is charged with responsibility for policy, quality, and regionalism in developing and coordinating policy initiatives to guide all aspects of undergraduate and sub-degree programming at The UWI and its regional and global affiliates.

Professor Chadee, a Fulbright Scholar, joined the St. Augustine Campus in 1995 as an Assistant Lecturer. He was awarded tenure in 2002 and was promoted to Professor of Social Psychology in 2013.

His high standards in research, publications, teaching, and research collaboration have been evident throughout his career, and his robust research agenda has focused on the psychology of fear of crime. He has published more than 70 books, journal articles and book chapters, and currently serves on the Mediation Board of Trinidad and Tobago. His three-year appointment took effect on August 1, 2023.

 

Professor Aldrie Henry-Lee

Pro Vice-Chancellor, Graduate Studies and Research

Professor Aldrie Henry-Lee was confirmed as Pro Vice-Chancellor, Graduate Studies and Research effective August 1, 2022. She succeeded Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine, who took up the role of Principal of the St. Augustine Campus.

Professor Henry-Lee oversees the University’s policy and operational plans for development and regulation, including administration of the Board, funding, monitoring and evaluation of graduate education and research, and the implementation of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship agenda.

She joined The UWI in 1995 and became Director of SALISES at Mona Campus in 2016. She made history as the first female University Director of the Institute. She is also the ‘One UWI’ Gender Equity and Justice Coordinator.

She was the recipient of the 2019/2020 Vice-Chancellor’s Award for All-round Excellence and a Principal’s Distinguished Researcher Award in 2003 from The UWI Mona Campus.

 

Sandrea Maynard

Pro Vice-Chancellor, Global Affairs

The UWI appointed Sandrea Maynard LLB (Hons) LLM, SFHEA, PgCHE as its new Pro Vice- Chancellor Global Affairs effective January 1, 2023. PVC Maynard now leads the regional university’s global engagement portfolio and coordinates all internationalisation and strategic global initiatives across the UWI system, significantly, the progression of the new UWI Global Campus.

The national of St. Kitts and Nevis has considerable experience in international student recruitment in China and elsewhere.

She was also a project leader in setting up the UWI-Coventry Institute for Industry-Academic Partnership.

She is a qualified Barrister-at-Law and has practiced both privately (domestically and internationally) and for the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service.

She has filled the roles of Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in Law at Coventry University. She has held senior leadership and management roles within UK universities across the sectors of law, business and university group subsidiaries, and managed multi-disciplinary and multifunctional teams through globally disruptive changes such as BREXIT and COVID-19. In addition, PVC Maynard serves as a Visiting Professor at two institutions in France.

 

Christine Randle

UWI Press Director

Ms. Christine Randle was appointed Director of The UWI Press effective January 2023. The UWI Press benefits from her extensive experience and network as managing director and publisher at her family business.

A qualified attorney-at-law, she earned her Bachelor of Laws in 1993 at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She was then admitted to the Bar of England and Wales at Gray’s Inn in 1994 and the Bar of Jamaica in 1995.

As the new Director of The UWI Press, Ms. Randle has oversight of its strategic and operational arm and reports directly to Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles through the Press’ Advisory Board. She is responsible for operationalising the vision of the Board, which is to ensure that the Press becomes an independently financially viable and sustainable arm of The UWI, while maintaining its high-quality standards of cutting-edge academic publishing.

 

Professor Justin Robinson

Pro Vice-Chancellor and Campus Principal at The UWI Five Islands and Pro-Vice Chancellor for Acadmeic-Industry Partnerships and dPlanning

In more than twenty years with The UWI, Professor C. Justin Robinson has served as Head, Department of Management Studies, Cave Hill Campus; Executive Director, Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management; Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences; and Pro Vice-Chancellor, Board for Undergraduate Studies. He was also a member of the working group for the establishment of the Five Islands Campus in 2018.

A national of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and a UWI Alumnus, he is a Professor of Corporate Finance and has published over 50 refereed publications in regional and international journals.

He has been leading the implementation of the Policy to support the Multi-Campus Teaching and Learning Initiative, overseeing the conduct of a two-year pilot 2022 to 2024. This initiative facilitates the sharing of teaching resources across the five UWI campuses to expose students to the full range of UWI expertise and allow for economies of scale in the deployment of teaching resources.

He is actively engaged in public service by serving on several boards and committees. His appointment took effect on August 1, 2023.
