UWI Consulting Inc.( UWIC) held Seminar at St Augustine Campus

UWI Consulting, an international business corporation and a subsidiary of the University of the West Indies, has recruited in excess of 160 consultants to work with the company on various assignments on behalf of the private sector, regional governments and international organizations.  At a seminar held at St. Augustine January 29  Dr. Basil Burke , Principal of ELGAE Consultants in California USA and a former faculty member of the University of the West Indies called on the consultants to demonstrate “ the values for success, namely: integrity, a passion to make a difference, team work, as well the ability to coordinate complex efforts.” 

This is the second seminar held by UWI Consulting to help build the consulting capacity of its affiliates, who are faculty members drawn from all the campuses of the University.

Dr. David Rampersad opened the Seminar and spoke of the genesis of the company, its relevance and encouraged participants to get involved.  The key to being a successful consultant are:  dedicated time, practical application of expert knowledge, the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team; and keeping up with best practices and having an entrepreneurial inclination.   U WI Consulting, whose Chairman is Professor Nigel Harris, Vice Chancellor of the UWI was launched March 5, 2008 in Barbados. The company was most recently engaged by the United Nations to prepare a strategic framework for UN CARICOM collaboration over the next 3- 5 years.
