The unit was formed in October 1999. The ERU represents the combined human and other resources of the TMRI involved in epidemiologic research, teaching and service within and outside the University.

The Epidemiology Research Unit is committed to making a significant contribution to the improvement of health in the Caribbean and the world by developing programmes of excellence in research, teaching and consultancy services in the fields of epidemiology, nutrition and public health.
