UWI-UCOSMIC

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) has been extending its regional and international reach through a wide variety of partnerships. An important part of this engagement is keeping track of the various agreements across the institution. To this end, The UWI acquired the management information system known as UCosmic, an international open-source software initiative that allows for the electronic storage of agreements in a searchable repository.  It is managed by the State University of New York’s (SUNY) Office of Global Affairs, in partnership with the University of Cincinnati. The UCosmic system can be adapted to meet the needs of The UWI.

Since 2013 the Agreements module of the UWI-UCosmic (one of eight modules) has been populated and is being continuously updated. This involves collection of copies of the agreements from across The UWI, conversion to PDF and uploading to the system. To date (January 31, 2017) there are over 370 entries. (As some are private, not all are visible to the public). The experience gained thus far has demonstrated the benefits of the UCosmic system to academic and administrative staff throughout The UWI.

The Office of Global Affairs has assumed responsibility for overseeing the development and usage of UCosmic at The UWI.

If you would like information on past or existing agreements with a particular institution or with institutions in a particular country, you can either check the public database or you can send your request to pvcglobal@uwimona.edu.jm.
