Lois St. Brice, Programme Officer II; Office of Global Affairs

Ms. Lois St. Brice joined the Office of Global Affairs in May 2022. Lois contributes to leading strategic regional and global initiatives, donor engagement and resource mobilisation, leveraging her previous 10 years of service at The UWI.  She provides dedicated support to the Pro Vice Chancellor, Global Affairs on strategy, operations, programme and policy development, and partnership management with the aim of maximizing opportunities from The UWI’s global engagement strategy.

Ms. St Brice formerly served as Manager – Funds and Strategic Initiatives at the UWI St Augustine Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (StACIE). There, she managed the Research and Development Impact Fund (RDI Fund) and the Innovation and Technology Transfer Fund (ITT Fund), a combined portfolio of 52 projects and US$4.3M in research funding awarded to date. Lois also conceptualised and implemented strategies to transform the research, innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem at UWISTA. Key initiatives operationalised include the ITT Fund, the RDI Fund’s Innovation Proof of Concept Grants, and UWI Ventures – The UWI’s research commercialisation entity. Lois also led several strategic university/industry partnerships and collaborative, high-impact projects, bringing together academia, government, private sector and development partners to address development challenges. Prior to joining StACIE in 2017, she served as Project Management Officer in the Office of the Campus Principal, UWISTA managing similar initiatives.

A Trinidad and Tobago national who is well-networked globally, Lois holds a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Dartmouth College, Thayer School of Engineering (USA) and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from Bates College (USA). She is a SSGBC and PMP® certified project manager, internationally trained in monitoring and evaluation (USA, Switzerland) and research commercialisation (Cambridge University, UK).
