Hurricane Hugo 1989

On the 17th Sept 1989 Hurricane Hugo impactsed St. Kitts & Nevis. Hugo, another classic Cape-Verde type hurricane, left a path of death and destructon across the islands of the northeastern Caribbean and over portions of the Carolinas. 1 death occurred. Hurricane Hugo caused $450 Million for islands in the Caribbean, including Antigua and Barbuda, the British Virgin Islands, Guadeloupe, Monserrat and St. Kitts and Nevis. The government of St. Kitts and Nevis reported that about 20 percent of the nation's population was homeless, that there was no electrical power, water supplies were contaminated and food shortages were severe.

The storm caused 46,000,000 USD in damage.
